The softness of cashmere from Nepal
Did you know?
There are several species of Cashmere goat, but almost all of them are now bred in Asia (India, Tibet and Mongolia). Remarkably, it takes no fewer than 4 goats to produce a single cashmere jumper... Their fur is so fine and light, particularly to protect it from the cold of the mountains where the air can drop to -40°C.
And that's not all: only the first few millimetres of fur are used to create cashmere. It's easy to see why so many animals are usually needed for a single jumper.
Our cashmere comes from Nepal.
It's in these magical surroundings that the yarns are knitted, woven both on knitting machines and by hand, for the most subtle finishes.

What's more, unlike a wool jumper, cashmere is exceptionally soft to the touch. This difference is simply due to the sophistication of the cashmere production process, which is definitely more complex and elaborate.

To select our cashmere, we use three main criteria:
- the fineness of the fibre
- the colour of the fibre before processing
- its length
Want to gauge the quality of cashmere?
Contrary to popular belief, the number of threads is a misleading indicator...
We talk about 2 or 4 threads, depending on the thickness of the knit. A 4-thread cashmere will be "thicker" than a 2-thread cashmere in the sense of being "warmer", but the quality will be the same.
While each of our raw materials is chosen with the greatest care, we pay extra attention to the selection of this type of delicate work. The longer and finer the thread, the softer the final design.

How do you take care of your cashmere?

Cashmere loves water!
So you can wash it frequently, as long as you don't wring it out (or you risk deforming it) and dry it flat, on a towel for example... In any case, absolutely avoid the sun for this delicate fabric, which doesn't like it very much.
And to make sure your cashmere lasts, here's our care advice:
- Wash at 30 degrees maximum
- Add very little washing powder
- Do not use fabric softener
- Spin at 500 rpm maximum (on the "wool" programme)
Cashmere tends to do what its cousin wool does: it shrinks when washed at too high a temperature and, unfortunately, it becomes misshapen when hung up.
Finally, just because cashmere loves water doesn't mean you have to douse it regularly all the same... The main thing is to space out the washes as much as possible, to preserve it, and preserve the planet too.
To avoid any panic, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that cashmere is obviously a fluffy material... meaning that it has a natural tendency to 'pilling'! This is entirely normal and in no way indicates poor quality.
All you need to do is maintain it regularly with a comb or lint razor, and the fabric will easily return to its original appearance.
